700R4 help needed

Yesterday after school I started my car, put it in overdrive and it lurched forward very hard, it obviously didn't seem right so I put it in reverse and it lurched backward. I had to get home so I figured I would give it a try driving home. It was about 20 degrees F outside. So I started out of the parking lot but it wouldn't shift out of first. So I went back into the parking lot to call my parents, well they weren't home. I let it idle for about 10 mins which brought it up to operating tempature, and I gave it a try again. It seemed to work fine, it shifted and didn't lurch, so I went home. What do you think is wrong? Could it just be that the tranny needed to warm up? Also a tranny guy that I know said it could be the trans mount but I didn't hear or feel it clunking, and that doesn't make sense to me. The fluid and filter was replaced 2,000 miles ago, the car has 55,000 miles on it.
What could it be?

Thanks
John

Sounds like the Throttle Valve in the valvebody got stuck. Very common problem. When the Throttle Valve is in the MAX position, line pressure is very high which will cause the harsh garage shifts (Park to Drive, Park to Reverse engagements) and it will also cause very late shifts. I'm sure if you had wound the engine out, it would have shifted into second, and very hard. You may not have a problem again, and it might act up tomarrow. Its not really a temperature thing, it just does it when it wants. Its a VERY common problem, and the TransGo Reprogramming kit WILL solve this.

a trans mount problem you could tell because at any temp when you get on the gas from a stop you can feel the tranny move around alot.. a big thump noise, not pleasant..

Yea, thats why it didn't make sense to me that it would be the mount. I have already replaced the mount twice in the last year, i finally broke down and bought a ES Poly mount, the only thing is it vibrates above 4,000 rpm.

Well, it happened again this morning so I am looking to fix it. Could you please explain what this reprogrammer is, how much it is, and where I can get it. Is it their shift improver kit?
Thanks
John
