shudder and whopping sound

shudder and whopping sound
Hey gang,
Got a 92 RS 305 auto.....163,000 mi. all stock
two things
1. I have a whop whop whop sound that I hear when coasting to a stop or accelerating. I repacked the bearings, no change.
Maybe tires or driveshaft need balancing or ?
2. At about 50, I get a shudder thru the car. This seems to happen more is I am lazy about pushing firmly on the accelerator.
Draftshaft...U-joints?
Based on my mileage........should I be looking at replacing my U-joints and balancing the driveshaft anyway?
