What is a self aligning throw out bearing?

Hey guys, I'm going to replace my throw out bearing since I have my transmission out of the car to replace a seal.

I have come across 2 available throw our bearings at the parts store: a self aligning type and a "normal" type.

What is the difference?

Which is preferred?

When I was researching on what clutches to replace in my '84 T/A I was looking at Centerforce clutches on their website. They mentioned that their throwout bearings were 'self aligning'. I eventually went with Ram OEM kit (I'm running stock engine), and they included a TO bearing in their kit which looks almost like my original.....

I couldn't say exactly what 'self aligning' is or how to tell one from a 'regular', but I'd say that if you're running stock or near stock clutch to just go with regular....

the centerforce throwout bearing that you get with their clutch kits is the same part number as the OEM one.
