question about t-5 parts
hey guys i was lookin around on ebay and it seems these mustang guys are usein these t-5 trannys for everything liek they are great or sumtin, well i foudn this also http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33733
there so called better gears that cure the problems with these trannys. well why isn;t there any aftermarket parts for the GM units but massive stronger parts for the Ford units? I always wondered this and really never got it. All my freinds are ford gusy i;m the only chevy guy and they are runin low 13's and one is runnin 12.40 supercharged threw a stock t-5 and it shifts perfect and doesn;t give him any probs at all. and mine with my engine is about to blow into a million tiny peices? just curious.

in a few words the way it was told to me is this,
mustangs weigh somewhat less than f-bodys,
so consequently the trans does have to put up with as much force to move the car,
also by consequence of the mustangs lighter weight they have less traction than an f-body of similar buildup,
i hope that kinda makes sense

it will only be a matter of time and it will break behind the ford
Look at the various forums at http://www.corrall.net/
there are failures there all the time.
The GM torque arm only increases case flex on T5s.
There really are no highperf parts. The main strength limiting factor on T5s is the main-shaft to countershaft distance. You simply can't put bigger/stronger gears in it bc of the size.
