If I press down on the gas peddle to much when im at a red light or a stop sign , theres this loud thump that I could feel and hear that seems to be coming directly below the console shifter from my automatic.It also happens when I punch it while turning.Its a 1991 RS(305).Does anyone know what this could be?

 

Tranny mount..Yeap..most likely a tranny mount. They aren't to expensive either. And not to hard to install even. A good jack, some safety stands, few tools and some spare time. Hope this helps.

I was thinking towards that direction because other than that thump the tranny doesnt have any shifting problems whatsoever.This noise started about 2 weeks ago.Thanks for the info Ill look into that.

you might also check out the torque arm mount, it is right up there also.
