rear end questions

ok i'm about to put a new set of gears in my 1991 rs it's a 10bolt 273 obvsouly and i was wondering what information i need to know when i go to replace it with 373 psoi rear end. for exapmle what size the rear end is and what spline it is. please help. thanks if i was to go to a junk yard what should i ask for.... as in what other year cars would have the set of gears and things like that.

you need a 28 spline carrier, should be 3 series and a gear set to match the carreir and an install kit. might want to consider a solid sleeve and a rear cover girddle

what size is the rear end on the 91 rs's 273?? is it 7.5" or 8"??? or whatever it is??

its a 7.5 10 bolt a.k.a. 7.625 10 bolt , do yourself a favor and get new gears, a complete install kit with all new bearings, and pick up a Zexel Torsen Posi. its a much better idea to d oeverything once because if you have to pay twice to have the same job done, well you get the idea. MDformula350 posted the link to the zexel its like $100 and well worth it, as for gears i just bought a set of 3.73`s and an install kit from www.randysringandpinion.com for $315 including shipping and everything. so for gears/install kit/Posi your lookin at $430 and then whatever installation costs you.
