Fixing the T-5 problem
Well I finally found another transmission. It came out of an 83 Z-28. I am getting it rebuilt first before I install it. The input shaft seemed a little loose so I guess the rebuilder will tighten it up as well. Here is my question do you think there was any damage to the ring and pinion when the trans locked the driveshaft up at 60mph? When we got it towed home we did not hear any noises or anything coming from the rear. The driveshaft took a beating though. Luckily it did not fly out of the tranny. I will probably find a replacement driveshaft and have new u-joints installed and get it balanced.
I am putting a new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing and pilot bearing in. It will probably just be a regular borg and beck unit 10.5" diaphram clutch assembly. I don't race it that much maybe a blast here and there. I would think that clutch would hold up to a stock 305 with no cat wouldn't it?
