Adjusting stops on B&M Ripper

Hey guys I have a B&M ripper shifter on my t-5 and I bought it used so I got no literature. Now my problem is that when I get on it and I go to shift fast it will grind a little then goes into gear but it still slides right in no problem. Also everyonce in a while I will just be driveing normal and come to a red light and it won't want to go into first so i have to push it hard to get it in, and then after that every gear is really hard to shift into. Now I am thinking that I am throwing the shifter to far and messing things up by stressing them and wut not, so how would I go about adjusting these on my shifter. Thanks

It's very easy if you can get to them. I didn't find it necessary to remove my console, but others say that you do.

Once you get to the adjustment bolts, loosen the lock nuts in front and back (IIRC it was 15mm) and back off the allen screws (don't remember what size though)

Put the shifter into 3rd gear where it naturally wants to sit, tighten the allen screw just to where it touches the shifter handle. Back it off 1/2 turn, and while holding the allen screw in place, tighten the lock nut. Just firm, don't go crazy with the torque.

Put the shifter into 4th gear, where it sits naturally, and repeat the above adjustment procedure. Put everything back together, and you're done!! See? Now wasn't that easy??

On a side note, if the adjustment screws are NOT interfering with the shifter travel (they are out of the way) and you really have to push or pull hard to get into gear, then the shifter is not your problem. The shift forks inside the transmission are very prone to cracking on one side or the other, and that will make the fork flex while you are trying to engage the gear. Subsequently, the fork is trying to push the slider past the synchros on an angle, and that is definitely not good!

You may be looking at a rebuild and new fork(s)

I had the same problem, and went through Hanlon Motorsports (www.hanlonmotorsports.com) and got their rebuild kit and video. I rebuilt it myself, saved a substantial amount of money, learned about the insides of this thing, and it really wasn't all that hard. No, I had never done it before either. Take the time to do it right!

Well I don't plan on keeping this car long cause it gets horrible gas milage, and theres no options under $1500 for a trans so I need somthign else. So I just need to get it to be a little better so I can just get to work and sell the car. I was actually looking at 5.0 mustangs then I slaped myself and said, yea they are fest get goioid gas milage andu can geta good trans for cheap but no matter wut its still a mustang lol. well besides the shifter problem and thank you very much on the input, do u have any suggestions on a car, must be fuel injected and manual. thanks every1

Geez, what kind of gas mileage are you expecting with that much engine??!!!!

Possibly think about reverting back to, or tuning the CC Qjet, instead of getting rid of the car. I know mine's only the LG4, but it has been cammed, making probably over 200 hp now, and I regularly knock down 20+ mpg all the time! and my foot is usually in the middle of the carb too!

A little easier driving on a regular basis will make the mileage go up!! and make the tranny last better!! These T-5's are not known for their longevity behind even the 305, much less an overbored 350!

The fi cars I think can do around 25 mpg with easy driving, only getting on it once in a while.

Then again, you don't buy this kind of car for the mileage, you buy it for the "smile-age"!!!!!!

Whatever you do DON'T buy a Mustang!!! I've had 3 of them (all GT's) at different stages of my life, and I keep coming back to my Pontiacs!!! (sing with me "Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby"!!)
No matter what, they keep disappointing me, over, and over, and over again!

Don't give up hope, there's more to these than meets the eye.

Also, keep an eye on ebay, once in a while you can find a nice Tremec (damn good 5 spd) for about $1500, but you gotta be quick to get them!

hth and good luck with her!
