700r4 tranny question
I'm planning on building a 350 I have or even strokin it to a 383. I have the stock 700 right now. It has like 130k miles on it. I'm pretty sure I need to get it rebuilt to hold up that much more power. Could I get some suggestions on how to get it rebuilt and maybe some price ranges. Also what type of shift kit should I put in it? Thanks for any suggestions.
your tranny issues
Well as a recent rebuilder of several 700's i found that you will need to tell the tranny shop you have rebuld it for you that you plan on puching more then 400 horse. The reason why is there are different clutch plates and shift servos the need to be put in for more horse power or as i did you will rip through your trany in no time at all...also as i have read it is suggested that you find a better torque converter..summit racing sells B & M tranny kits and torque converters for heavy duty building...Now finding a good tranny shop is the key, find one that will build it for you with those specs in mind and you will have a good launch....find a shady one and you will have a bad launch....also remember in the tranny world you get what you pay for....believe me i know i went through 6 700's before converting to a t5.....good luck

Go to https://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm...ct&productid=35 This will give you an idea of what I do when building a 700R4 for the Street/Strip. I use the 1988-1992 units to build from and there is no exchange required. If you want to build the 700R4 yourself go to https://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?...ct&productid=5 If you have any questions about this and what torque converter is needed, give me a call? 800 7763288 M-S after 10 am PST.
