I need a good install guide for this install. Including all the parts and such. Also will the mcloud dual friction clutch work behind a 400sbc and can you us lt headers with the t56?

Thanks,
Jeremy

As far as the headers go I hear that the long tube ones wont work. That they'll hit the bellhousing or something of the sort. From what I know you gotta use shorty headers. As for the T56 install I dont think the search option is working at the moment so I cant find the sites that I used. But you can check out skulte I believe they have a T56 install tech site.

After you do the install you are gonna be one happy man. Cause DAMN the T56 is so much better. My car pulls way harder then it did before. And driving my car is atcually fun again.

I might have to get some custom made then. Reason I ask is bcuz I sold my 97 SS to my dad and am now looking for something for less $. I might go ahead and put in a 5sp instead of the 6sp if it is that much a PITA. Still looking for a car right now though and doing some reasrch.

i dono though if a T5 will be able to handle your motor...from what I knwo it could only handle like 300lbs of torque max. Installing a T56 is atcually quite easy though it does take some time. Took me about 2 days of on and off working. The only hard part is putting in the pedals. Once you finish the pedals everything else is pretty much just bolting things on.

The complete TKO conversion will run $2500++
The complete T56 conversion will run $2000++
The complete T-5 conversion will run $1000+/-

I was going to go with the T56, but then I thought, I don't ever even use 5th gear so why do I need a 6th?? And the cost? No thanks.

I then looked very closely at the TKO conversion. Nice tranny, but I just couldn't swallow paying over $2000 just for the tranny - no clutch or pedals!

I am currently awaiting a WC T5 that I will rebuild to new specs and install it along with a new Centerforce dual friction clutch. I am doing an auto to manual swap and my total cash outlay will be under $1000 for everything! My engine puts out over 400lb. ft. of torque, but I feel confident using the T5.

If you just have to dump the clutch all the time, powershift, or drop from 4th to 2nd gear at 60mph, then go with the Tremec TKO. If you can drive like an adult, I say go with the T5. You could rebuild a T5 10 times before you even approach the cost of a new TKO.

These are my opinions of course...each have their own.
