Clutch
I am a po' boy and am gettin ready to replace the busted t5 in my bird (comon tax returns - comon tax returns) and I of courst have to replace the clutch (it is dead too). I was going to get a cheapo at autozone ($100) bt I saw this one on summit -
Vendor: RAM Automotive Company
Product Line: RAM Premium Replacement Clutch Sets
Diameter: 10 1/2 in.
A clutch for your daily driver
Chevrolet/Pontiac: 1982-92 5.0L Camaro/Firebird, 10 1/2 in. diameter, 1 1/8 in. x 26 spline input shaft, replacement clutch set
This RAM premium replacement clutch set is the first choice of professional installers because it contains the correct replacement parts to ensure a proper fit and operation in your vehicle. This clutch set is great for vehicles with no modifications such as taller gears, tires, nitrous oxide, or blowers.
Sold as a kit.
I was wondering if anyone had this clutch and if so any complaints? Also do you think it would give me any better preformance than an auto zone cheapo?

I've had several Ram clutches over the years, in some Chevelle SS396s and in some older Z28s; they were excellent products. Worked fine for years. I wouldn't hesitate to use one again.
I would not try to cheap out to the max on a clutch; it's too much work to have to keep going back and doing it. Stick with a brand-name one, such as Ram, CF, B-W, Hays, McLeod, Dana, etc.; or one from a reputable parts store such as NAPA. A cheap clutch will cause you more grief and expense than it's worth.

Thanks. As for going cheap.. My car is almost bone stock I don't need anything special yet and can't justify $300 for a clutch so stocker(ish) it is.

True dat.... but don't go with the low bid, you'll be unhappy.
The Ram will give you far better service, longer, with less trouble, and will just all-around work better than a cheeeeepie, as would any quality one. The B-W "Brute Force" series is another good one for a stock or near-stock car, for very little more than a low-bid one.

Cool!
No actually I don't, I've only lived here a few months, I just moved here from So. Cal., and haven't had to buy one yet....
The Ram set that you can get from Summit is probably as good a choice as any, and should fit that price range.... seems like the last one of those I bought was about $130 or $140 but it's been a while....

Summit has the ram for $150. They also have this roller piolt bearing thingy that is like 12 bucks so i will prolly get that too.
Do you know how good the various parts of the kit? Like if I were to get the ram and later on get a partial new clutch, like say a pressure plate will that work or is all matched clutch components recommended?
