megashifter

I have a firebird and im installing a megashifter
and i dont really want to cut my stock counsil
will it still shift into first in the stock opening. the boot fit I can rig to fit

If you bought the right shifter than it is ment to fit in YOUR car. You shouldn't need to cut anything, as I said it is a bolt / wire in, kit. If it says you have to cut you counsol up than take itback and get the one for 82-92 Camaro/Firebird.

I did, this kit is for 82-92 camaro, firebird.
It comes with a templete to cut it. I even called B&M and they told me to cut it. I dont want to cut it because mines perfect and the cover plate that is provided only has 1 2 d n r p

Yes you cut the OE console. You can try to use the stock boot and see if it will work, but I don't know how you could hook up the selector. The kit has a second 'selector' that has all the gears you need. If I remember correctly, you must also remove a lockout screw to allow the shifter to all 4 forward gears. You could also get a used console plate from a junkyard and cut it up.

Thought you were talkng about the main part of the counsol not the white indicator like part. OK
