85 TA Brake/Clutch Pedals in a 91 Z28??

Hey people, i'm doing the T-5 swap and the tranny is coming out of a 85 TA. i just need to know if the pedals are the same as ones from a 91 Z. i dont need any more complications to the swap than i'm already going to run in to. thanks for your help

I don't know about the firebird, but since most of the mechanical parts will swap, I'll talk abou the camaro stuff. The 84+ Camaro uses the same hydraulic system, but apparently the clutch pedal itself was redisigned in 87, and again in 90. At least the part numbers are different. I don't know about the acutal differeneces. I have an 89 clutch setup in my 91 RS, using a 97 hydraulic setup, and it works just fine. I'd have to see a 91 clutch pedal to know if anything wasn't hanging correctly (the clutch pedal is a little further forward than the brake, but that might be the 97 T56 master cyl). Other than that, I think any 85-92 pedals would work.

So you're using the the 4th gen F-Body LT1 style clutch master cylinder / slave cylinder setup? Was it a straight bolt-on to the 3rd gen pedals?

Reason I ask, I'm going to start my WC T5 conversion soon. Have everything but clutch and hydraulics.

I'm leaning towards the 94-95 F-Body hydraulics, as the fluid line is steel braided instead of plastic.

Didn't really want to order it from GM then find out it won't work.

Any details greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes I am, and no they don't. If you look at the 3rd gen master cyl, they have a little plastic insert in the pushrod that acts as a bushing. The 4th gens do too, but the hole in the bushing is smaller. I just broke the bushing out (only way to do it), and put the bare metal pushrod on the peg on the clutch pedal. It's a little loose, but still a decent fit. I should have put some bearing grease or something on it too, but so far I haven't had any problems - but then I've only put 410 miles on it

On the other side of the firewall, the master cyl and fluid reservior fit exactly as the 3rd gen's do.

Now that I think about it, I think that I AM going to put a little grease on that post, just to be sure.

I dunno, I've never done it. I would assume that you just use the "attach file" area below the options when you are typing up a new message.
