Anyone that has done the 700-R4 -> T-5 conversion
Hey people, i'm about to do the t-5 swap next week and i want some input on problems that you guys have had during the install. I've never done any work on my car to this caliber so it should be fun and interesting. My car is a 91Z28 305 700-R4
The T-5 going into it is from a 85 TA 305. also, the guy that i'm getting the tranny from broke the hydraulic line that runs from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder so i need that piece. If anyone has one, or knows where to get one, please let me know. Any and ALL help/advice is greatly appreciated, and pictures are the best way for me to learn.. thanks and wish me luck

You cant buy just a line you have to get the complete master, slave setup. Bleeding the clutch sucks. You will need a torque arm bracket from a 5-speed car.

when did they start putting electric speedos in the firebirds? since your car is a 91, it has an electric speedo. correct me if i'm wrong, but the 85 firebird should have a mechanical speedo. i'm not sure what the part is, but you will need something to make that tranny work with an electric speedo.

Yeah, torque arm is the one running parallel to the driveshaft. I personally reccomend that you buy a new transmission mount to put in while you're at it, one of those nice polyurethane ones. I reused the one from my automatic and it lasted an entire week, had to replace it the other night. I also had problems b/c I had a 168 tooth flex plate (thanks to the fishhead who had the car before me) and the starter wouldn't even come close to the teeth of the 153 tooth flywheel (you shouldn't have this problem if your car hasn't been messed with a lot)
