1989 IROC Shift knob removal
1989 IROC Shift **** removal
Hello,
I just bought a good used shifter **** and this **** has the metal staple in the front of the ****. I have read A LOT of posts using search and I find a lot of responses about the metal staple. However, I looked at my IROC's original sguare leather shift **** and it does not appear to have the staple.
How do you take this style **** off? Will the staple type that I have fit the stock shifter in my car?
Thanks for your help.
Ernie

I figured it out! The staple was already removed from my stock shifter ****. When I put the shifter in reverse and used a good light I could see 2 tiny holes in the leather. I just pulled up (hard) and the stock **** cam off. I then installed the replacement **** and the staple and I'm good to go now.
Thanks!
Ernie
Thanks!
