Rear End Noise...
I just had a 4K miles Zexel-Torsen with 3.42 gears out of a '02 Z28 installed in my GTA. They removed the ABS gear, used a Raytech install kit, replaced all rear end seals, installed new axle bearings, and filled it with Royal Purple.
I know the Torsens make some noise but mine is sounding kinda wierd. Can someone please tell me what kind of sounds are OK and what sounds are bad that I should have them check out???
Thanks!

do your gears whine? if so they shouldnt be. from what i know the gears from the newer camaros and the thirdgens are the same. my old stock gears never made any noise and the gears coming from the 4th gen shouldnt either. id get it checked out.
No they do not whine. OK, when I am at idle in gear, I can hear a VERY faint slow ticking/snapping kind of a noise. It's like right at the point where my foot is off the brake just enough that the car will start to creep or when I am totally at a stop. It's not constant and it doesn't do it all the time, actually not very often. The car drives GREAT and I have no complaints and otherwise my car is very quiet...
I just hear allot of 4th gen guys (98-02 mainly) say that their rear makes a little noise and when they take their car to the dealership they checked it out and everything is fine...

No because according to Royal Purple it's already added and I also heard that with the Torsens they don't really need the additive because it has gears and not clutches...

hmm, did they check the pinion mating wiht the crown? A lot of gear places mess this up. He should have applied some paint to the crown and observerd the mating pattern between the crown and pinion. If not, it may be off a little and you'll break something real soon...

Faint slow ticking noise probably means a U-joint, probably the rear, but if you haven't changed them lately, just do both and be done with it. It's probably really a little squeak, like eek-eek-eek-eek, it just sounds like a tick because it's so short.
I seriously doubt that the posi install has anything to do with it.
