tranny mount

would a bad tranny mount result in hard shifting if the mount is really dead??? Every once in a while, it doesn't want to go into gear, but after a little shaking of the shifter, it goes in just fine. t also make s a clunking noise from time to time. Could this be the issue???

see, i was thinking that if the mount is gone, then the shifter does not line up in the tranny right. I don't think it has ever been replaced and I havn't had time to get under the car to look at it so I was thinking that it might be totally gone and causing my problems.
