intermitent clutch problem?? pressure plate??
hey guys, sometimes I will be driving around and my transmission will become very hard to get into gear( its just like when you pull it out of gear without the clutch when moving just its opposite)and will stay that way for a while untill i turn it off and let it sit. It doesn't do it all the time just out of the blue it will start doing it. I always thought it was my hydraulics, like they had an internal leak but i was driving my dad somewhere and it sarted doin it and he said try double clutching and it made it alot easier. so he said your clutch has got to be messe dup cause the hydraulics wouldn't get better from that. so do u think its possible for the pressure plate to be messed up and causeing this? also wut inside the pressure plate woudl keep it from disengageing fully?
I would say that your clutch is going out. but i do not know much about chevy 5 speeds maybe there is something that these tranny's are known for messing up. but from what you described i would have to say it is fixin to go out.have you had to add any oil to the clutch res.

the clutch is a luke stock replacement from pepboys with aroudn 3k on it 1500 of witch was behind my 350 horse 350. it was worn pretty good when i took it out to check it but it still had meat on it. no i never have to add fluid. i think the clutch is defective. u think its possible?also if i droped the trans again and looked at the pressure plate what would i look for to be broken to cause this? thanks
worn or broken fingers on the pressure plate broke fork and or messed up throwout bearing although the last time i had one like that after a few weeks it failed completely the clutch came apart just remembered never had it ahappen personally but heard of the the check ball sitcking in the clutch master cylinder check slave cylinder also. later HANK

hey guys do u think it coudl be that since the clutch is a junk pepboys stock replacement that is made for say a 200horse motor that since my motor is about 350 horse it can't hold up to it and ther torque is messing it up? it happened again today, as soon as it happened i double clutched it and it went away for say 1 min, then it came back and i double clutched again and it wasn't as bad as it usualy is but still hard ot get into gear. any input woudl be awsome cause putting in a new clutch is something i don't feel liek doing. also what size is our clutch? i wunna get hayes. is it a 10.5 26 spline? thanks
Pep Boys clutches are dog s***!!! I bought a brand new one from them against all advice when I swapped to the 350 in my RS. I couldn't figure out why in the hell the clutch wouldn't disengage. Brand new the damn clutch was s***. Get a decent brand.

I have the same problem, except its a dual friction, TKO and lakewood scattersheild. It worked fine when i put the TKO in ( i had the CF for a while before) but it seems to be getting worse. Sometimes when i come to a stop i cant get it into 1st or second. Third & fourth seems to be fine though. If i pump the clutch pedal it will usually get better. i was planning on swapping the slave/master assy for a new one. I also (occasionally) grind reverse because its still spinning, it seems like it is being driven while in neutral. If i go from 4th to reverse it will still grind.
