i got a t-5 that came witht eh new firebird i just got, my friend, old owner, said it had problems going from 4th to 5th, and it wont stay in reverse, so what do you all think is the problem, the syncro's going or are gone, and ifso will this kit on e-bay be what i need to fix it and get he going again?

oh and would a 92 T-5 tranny work in my 87 formula, i want tot ake out the TPI and such and i wanted to know if it would still work with NO PROBLEMS. thanks for any info.

 

oh and would a t-5 tranny from a 80's stang work in my firebird, and ifso what would i have to use to make it work, i cna grab one for $100. thanks again for any help.

 

The T-5 from the 92 will fit in the 87, be a direct bolt up if manual to manual swap. The only difference could be the speedo gear.

A mustang T-5 will not work in any f-body due to different input shaft splines, different tail shafts, and possibly even different lengths. For more info perform a search, there is a bunch of info on T-5 on this board.

 

A search would be good IF it let you put in t5 or t-5 and looked for it. The search won't do it.

 

it you put in t5* it will work, however you will get t56 info also.
