Tranny Question

I have an 89 RS, it has a 700r4 in it, the thing is it continues to break the flexplate, and the shifting linkage cable, what do you think the cause of this would be? I know I need another tranny but I was just wondering what would cause this problem , and if anyone has ideas about where I can get another tranny cheap..

Long shot, but I had a GM trans. with a questionable rebuild . Anyhow, the pump was shot or something and the converter had visible wobble when the car was running. Check for visible runout.

On the cable - DOUBLE CHECK ALL GROUNDS from firewall to engine block/heads. If they're insufficient, missing, or otherwise lackadaisical, the shifter cable can act as a ground, which will destroy it.
