T5 conversion- specific questions
Ok, please help me
I've read the T5 conversion page. I think I have the parts. Problem is, I bought parts from various sources, so I have no idea if I have everything. I do have a few specific questions-
Car is a 90 Formula 350 Firebird. Trans is an 88 WC T5 (1LE).
#1- What speed sensor do I need? Anyone have a picture? The trans has one on it with a female wire connector and no speedo cable. Is that the right one?
#2- Where the bellhousing bolts to the block- is there a shield there? Is there one for the automatic? Are they the same?
#3- Do you recommend new flywheel bolts and such?
#4- Is it really necessary to take off the master cylinder and brake booster to get to the clutch cylinder mounting?
#5- Do the clutch m/c and slave go bad very often? Just wondering, because my stuff didn't come with a reservior, and the dealer only sells it as a unit with the m/c and slave and hoses.
#6- Is there any marking on the tunnel where the hole needs to be cut for the shifter?
#7- What clutch would you recommend for my combo? 350TPI with intake and exhaust mods, 3.73 gears, stiff (almost road race) suspension. Keep in mind the car will see very little "drag" racing, but will see some street duty, and I intend to use it to take students for ride-arounds when I instruct at track days...
The deal is, my friend is going to an automotive school (a very reputable one) and they are taking this on as a class project. I just want to have EVERYTHING ready for them so that we don't have to scrounge for parts. If I would've known this earlier, I would've bought an entire "kit" from one person, but stupid me had to shop for the exact trans I wanted, so now I'm working backwards...
Thanks in advance!!!:hail:
