Changed transmission fluid... now car feels like it has a bad transmission...

You know how your car tends to shift on a manual when your clutch starts going out? Yeah, that's kinda how my auto feels ever since I changed the ATF.

I've only driven it a few miles... do I just need to give it time and it'll fix itself? Or did I do something wrong/break something? My fluid levels seemed to be okay. I'm getting nervous. This was my first time doing this so...

If the filter wasn't sitting up in the pick-up tube right would it cause sloppy shifting? Do I need to just wait it out? Does my TV cable need adjusted?

Like I said I've only driven it a few miles since I've done this. Those of you who read the Appearance & Detailing board know why...

common consensus is that if your tranny is on its last leg that changing the fluid will push to the edge making it all the worse. im not really sure why it does this though.

My tranny seemed to be fine beforehand though... and my fluid wasn't dark, burnt, nasty, or anything....

If the filter wasn't installed correctly, you could be picking up air, which will turn the fluid into foam as it is pumped through the system.

Hydraulics don't operate well on foam...

Might wanna cheak the fuild again, make sure engine is running and up to temp.

I had the same thing happen to be before.

1 qt or less low can cause it to feel like its slipping, around 2 qt. low and the car wont even move in gear

i agree with five7 if you did r&r the filter i'll bet you either left the old gasket in place or didn't get it seated all the way.

I certainly hope it's just an issue of getting the fluid level just right, because I'd really hate to drop the pan again.
