I want info on how to change the shift points on the 700-r4
I put an LT1 into my IROC and it's peak power is at 6400 RPM. Now I'm a retard at shifting the auto manually so I want to adlust the shift points so at WOT it shifts gears at 6500 RPM, and all I gotta do is keept the shifter in D. I'm basically looking at where to get the governors and how to install them and such. Any Help?

If you want to go the govenor rout look for one out of a 6cyl bird or maro. Its not quite 6500rpm i think they run to about 6000rpm, but that would be a quick cheap way. Considering its an lt1 though, i would maybe suggest either another transmission, or haveing a trans shop rebuild it and reenforce it to take the extra power, while they are at it they can change the weights and such to really do it right. Why not a manual trans while you were swapping engines? Or atleast the trans ouf of an auto 4th gen camaro?
P.s. any inaccuracies i am sure will be pointed out shortly, this knowledge is from reading around and some past experience with other car.

The motor is already built up...at first I used a cam that had a peak powerband at 5500, but I did some more work to the motor with a different cam and want to adjust the tranny now.

Just get a governer calibration kit. Superior makes one, its called a "Shift Point Package". It comes with a variety of weights and springs to fine tune. It comes with instructions and a chart showing you which spring is which (sooner -vs- later shifts) to point you in the right direction.
