Will the 4th Gen Alum Driveshaft work in 86 w/700r4?

Wil a 4th gen Alum DS work in an 86 w/700R4? The donor car is a 2002 Firehawk w/ 6spd.

Did you ever look at the years of f-bodies that the Inland Empire driveshafts from Summit fit? I'll give you a hint: it covers 21 model years of production.

Ok....that was a cool answer. The answer is yes the driveshaft and rear end with fit your 86 fine. The rear will be slightly longer on each side tho. And you will have to run adaptors or different rim spacing in the back. Not sure what the spacing is on the 4th gens tho.

Many Thanks

Good, I'm glad to hear it will fit. I am also getting the rear from the car as well. The owner upgraded to a Carbon-fiber unit and a Moser 3.73 12 bolt. Because i helped withth install I get the "old" (12,000 mi) DS and 3.42 Posi. All I need to do is find me some rotors, calipers, e-brake cables, prop. valve and backing plates. Again, thaks for the info, as I was unsure of the difference btw. auto and manual (if there was one).

Car: 1986 Trans Am
Engine: built 305
Transmission: 700r-4 shift kit
so would you have to use the fourth gen rear end with the axle or could you use the axle with the third gen rear end?

from what I've researched, the Driveshaft will fit a third gen rear as well... The rears are virtually the same (slightly longer axles and housings on the 4th gen) I just didn't see that anywhere in here, and now here it is
