When I'm reinstalling the pump, the input shaft and the assy. right behind the pump (drum?) seem to be pushed towards the driverside of the trans. and upwards slightly. This appears to be what is keeping me from installing the pump. The pump almost aligns to the circle in the case that it should, but I don't want to force anything. I have set the trans on its side, and had shifted it through the gears, and I had set it on the output shaft vertically. Could any of those items screwed things up?

elphay please.

I'm not sure that you can install the pump with the tranny on its side (or at least easily). Stand the tranny up vertical and turn while shaking the input shaft to make sure everything is properly seated. The top of the Reverse Input Housing (aka "the drum") should be just below the surface that the pump bolts to. Also make sure that the band is properly located on the anchor (bottom) and at the servo pin (side). Also don't forget some vasaline to stick the plastic thrust washer to the back of the pump.

Oh yeah, and put alot of vasaline on the two teflon rings at the bottom of the pump (stator shaft). Most aftermarket rings are "scarf cut" and can pop out causing the pump to get hung up on the reverse input housing.

The plastic thrust washer has two round spots that stick up and is 2 or 3" acrost, and sits on the face of the drum, right behind the pump, yes?

Need to go look at the pin & anchor...

It sits on the face of the drum, but to install it, you need to put those two plastic posts into the two holes in the stator shaft.

Vaseline was used where recommended. Band was off the servo pin. You, my man... rock.

thanks
