TV cable?/slow shifting 700r4
TV cable?/slow shifting 700r4
I put a used 700r4 from a 92 TBI 305 (57,000 miles) into my 91 GTA 350 (180,000 miles). It shifts too slow. As an experiment, I adjusted my TV cable 3/8" shorter. It shifted quickly, but not hard, and the shift points were noticably higher.
Is it likely that my old TV cable is stretched and just not tight enough to shift right? Or is it more likely that something in the new/used tranny is the culprit? How can I check? Will I need to borrow a pressure guage?
Thanks

if you pull it out it shifts later, push it in then it shifts sooner. i would try adjusting the detent cable like it sais to in the tech articles and if that does work then just kinda set by feel, keep pulling or pushing in one little notch till you get the desired shift. or possibly you need a different detent cable, maybe try using the one from your old tranny
