Auto to Manual swap on a 3.1, found a perfect donor car.
I just need you guys to confirm that this swap is possible and tell me what other parts i will need that i wont find in the donor car that i'd have to buy. My car is a 1990 firebird 3.1L with automatic. The donor is an 86 firebird 5spd. The car has a blown headgasket and engine hasnt run in the car for 1.5-2years. It also a posi rear end which is a plus. Will this donor 5spd work in my car? what new parts will i have to buy that i cant pull from the donor? I need a mechanical to electrical speedo gear for it right? anything else? can i use the crossmember for the tranny from the donor in my car?
post your thoughts on how feasible this is and what problems i might run into. the tranny has been sitting 1.5-2years as well as the rear end. is a fluid change all they will need, or does sitting that long cause other problems that will require a rebuild? do i need to make any changes to the computer for the swap to work?
help me out guys, this donor has a lot of promise in my eyes. i cant wait to start but i want to make sure that my plan is even possible before i start.

Get a prom for a 1990 3.1L 5spd car. Get speedo gear / vss for tranny - application = 1990 `bird; match it to your new rear posi gears(?)
Unhook your park neutral connector from the switch.
The 86 trans should be okay; not sure if V6 1991 trans was stronger ... It doesn't hurt to drain and fill. If it's gear oil, you're safe to refill with same. If it's ATF, refill with ATF.
It really shouldn't have "aged" in that time.
You may have to punch a hole in your firewall for the hydraulics master cyl... I think we did on a 1991 Z28 when we went A4 to M6.
