First off I was not looking for a opinion on what trans to use. As for a Camaro
being to heavy for a powerglide you are wrong. I have 2 friends that run glides in
there 82-92 F bodys.1 car runs low 11s and the other 1 runs mid 10s . I also know
2 guys that run glides in there chevelles.
My car is being built for bracket racing. Not just to go to the track and try to put up
a big #. Please if you can't help keep you comments to your self.

i assumed that becuase you want to retain the torque arm you were talking about a daily driver, in which case a glide is not the way to go.
if its more for racing then a glide may work better.
i thought that i was being helpful given the lack of info you gave in your original post

Heavier cars can benefit from a 1st gear that gets them off the line, third gens included. He was trying to steer you to a better solution, and wisely at that.
Glides work best in lighter cars. Just facts.
If you wanna build a slug with no first gear.... go for it! You invited flames with your stupid tranny choice.
I'm going to go put a Ford flathead in my Chevrolet now. For consistency.

Wow...
This must be why my brother-in-law's 66 327 PG 3.08 gear Impala would walk off and leave my brother's 66 396 400 3.08 Carpice, after they got up fast enough that the 327 overcame the 396's 1½ car-length jump.... the Impala must have been a light car.
The reason you run a Glide in a bracket car is because you just build a monster motor, put in a throttle stop and timer to control how much power it puts out for how long, buy a converter of the appropriate stall speed for the motor, gear the car so it traps at the RPM you want, and run within .02 of your dial-in every time, no questions asked. If you can get your reaction time down below .510 consistently, you can bring home the money pretty often.
AFAIK the B&M "Turbo 350" kit should work for a PG, since it moves the torque arm mount to the crossmember. I'll warn you though, you won't get very consistent 60' times with that stock torque arm rubber-band POS in there.
Look at Spohn, advertiser at the top of the page, he makes a torque arm that replaces the stock one and also does what the B&M kit does; much better setup for what you're trying to do.

don't want it to spin. You want the car to repeat ever run. My camaro should only
be like 3100 LBS that is not heavy. What do you consider heavy for a race car? Just
because you are a jack *** and know nothing about bracket racing my trans choice
in dumb. Again I have 2 friends that use glides in f body's and have no problems with
them and the cars are deadly consistent. On top of all that way do you guys give 2 sh*ts what trans I use I asked for help with something I get all this BS I know what works and what I want to do. Again if you can't help keep your comments to your self

post is the reason for all this.Just remember, everyone is a jackass and knows nothing about bracket racing, when you never mention the application in the first place.
Why do we give two ****s about what trans. you use? Well, except for your bracket racer, and light drag-only cars, powerglides are a poor choice. That, along with your inconclusive post #1 was the reason for post #2.

ok i did not mean to start a flame, by replying here. but
rb and gween have made good points about a glide being good in a bracket car. with the big motor, throttle stops, etc... and not want tire spin, but needing consistency.
so you are right to want to use a glide, the reason i questioned your idea of a glide is due in part to 3 things
1. lack of info in original post(true it doesn't really matter to me what trans you use)
2. this is probly the biggest thing Curiosity on my part, due to reason number 1
3. the general opinion among drag racers that i know is that about 2500lbs is a good cutoff for effective use of a PG.
i know you did not want a reply unless it gave you an answer i believe rb was able to do that. the reason i have replied once more is to clarify my reasons, learn from my mistake, and attempt to keep in good standing with this message board as generally it has been very helpful
have a good day
