Where are they, in the flywheel or in the crank? I don't get it, I can't find anything in my Chilton's manual.

Ok, so if.....

If I have a freshly rebuilt motor, wouldn't it have a new pilot bearing installed? Mine only has 8k miles on it.

It would almost certainly not be there. It's not considered part of the motor, it's part of the clutch.

Well then....

shall I just tap the new one into the motor until it's flush while I have the motor out? I just hit it with a mallet and then what, use a punch to get it all the way in?

I use a socket or a brass drift. It's a fairly light press fit, doesn't take much to get it in.
