Shift throw
Is there a kit for shortening the shift throw on the five speed, or is it just something you have to do custom by yourself?

Get a Hurst shifter or other aftermarket shifter... they always have a shorter throw.

I saw a Hurst that was shortened even more. He cut the shifter between the mounting holes and discarded the lower piece, which made the upper mounting hole now become the lower one. Drill a new hole above that and reassemble. (may also require you grind a flat area for the new hole, I don't remember). I haven't tried it because I don't want to trade off the leverage the stock Hurst length gives for a shorter throw.
