muncie T-10 swap

How hard would it be to swap in a Muncie T-10 in place of my T-5? my friend has one that was in his GTO so it has the pontiac bellhousing. Would the bellhousing from my T-5 fit? what else would be involved?

Is it a Muncie, or is it a T-10? (Not that it makes a whole lot of difference as far as fit) They're 2 different transmissions.

It will fit your bell housing and clutch, if it's a M22 Muncie or a "Super T-10", since those have the 26-spline clutch gear. On the other hand, if it's either of those transmissions, your dirve shaft won't fit it, because it will have th Turbo 400 size yoke.

It will not have a torque arm mount, so you'd have to do something different to accommodate it; you can't run one of these cars without that, unless you re-design the rear suspension. I know of no shifter whatsoever for a Muncie in one of these cars, but there is (or at least was) a T-10 one available from Hurst, for 82 models that had T-10s.

It's not a direct fit at all, but some of the old transmissions will come closer than others. Sounds like you need to do some more research and find out exactly what thransmission this really is before you do anything.

I talked to my friend today who has the trans and he said its a M-21 i dont know where i got T-10 from lol. I'm mainly concerned about the shifter coming up through the stock location becuase i dont want to modify my console or anything.

It's not a bad swap at all. The SCCA A-Sedan cars are running the T-10 now. We have a kit to install it:
