2.73 305tpi to 3.42 V6 rearend swap
My rearend in my 89 Formula Auto 305TPI is going. Its currently humming like a s.o.b., At some yards around me there are alot of 85-92 V6 thirdgen's with the rear end still in them. I could probly get one at a decent price too. But will they fit right in my Formula? If not what rear ends should I look for. I'm also thinking bout a 4th gen 96 TA rearend with a posi unit if its still at the other yard. Hope to get some informative suggestions.
any rear from the cars mentioned will bolt right in, if your changing brake set-up's (drum to disk, disk to drum) make sure you grab the E-brake stuff and the proportioning valve and master cylinder. the 4'th gen will bolt in also except they are wider than ours by a couple of inches so your 3'rd gen wheels will stick out a little further.
The V-6 rears will bolt right in. Just finding one with disc brakes & limited slip from a V-6 car will be difficult. The 4th gen rear will also fit, but note it is 4" wider overall. Again your wheels may not fit this rear.
