Will a Dana 44 work in a 4th gen?

Hi guys, I'm new here first time posting. I was looking into a stronger rear upgrade for my 97 Z other than the pricey 12bolts and heard that the Dana 44 is a popular upgrade for 3rd gens. Does anyone know if this rear would work in a 4th gen Z? From what I have heard it is 2" narrower and that it doesn't have abs (which I don't mind losing). I havn't gotten a definite answer that it will bolt up to the torque arm and that all the other mounting locations would be the same. Thanks for any info!

It will probably fit, but used ones are pretty rare and a new one is going to cost close to what a 12 bolt or 9 inch would.

From what I've heard it probably would, just havn't talked to anyone that has actually done it. I wouldn't be looking for a new one, I wanted to try and find a used one cheap. I just don't feel like spending $2k on a 12bolt. Thanks for your help

There is no probably about it, it will bolt right in, if you are using stock rims you'll need spacers, or get new axles and tubes made so its the correct length, if you are getting different rims you'll need 3rd gen offsets of course.

Cool, thanks for the info. While were on the subject, how about the 9 bolt rear, I assume that would work in a 4th gen as well? What cars came with that rear, the TTA? I had never heard of that rear before.

Correct, TTA's have a 9 bolt. Will take some abuse for awhile. Guy on Turbobuick.com has the stock 9 bolt in his TTA, running a lot 1.5-1.6 60's with it, he puts 425 HP/ 600 TQ to the wheels. Still together for now

More info on the 9 bolt is available at www.9bolt.com

If there is enough demand for a solution between the 10 bolts and 9 inchers, I have thought about putting something together with 9 bolt stuff.
