Identifying an auburn

I recently bought an auburn carrier off of ebay. But i've got a problem. The unit dimensions physically match the dimensions given on auburns site for a 7.5"/7.625 rear. So I thought I had it made.. but the axles dont fit. So I get a set of 28 spline axles.. they still dont fit! I've counted the splines in the carrier.. there are 28 splines.. but the 28 spline axles are too small.. So what do I have??? I'd like to identify this so I can sell it, and order something that'll work..

If someone spun an axle in the carrier with the other axle out of the carrier the cone and tapered seat assembly, on the non axle side, would become misaligned. This would keep the axle from going into the carrier. Hope this helps.

Sorry I must not have been clear enough. My axles are too small for the hole!! The splines in the carrier are approx. 1/8" bigger than my 28spline axles. I havent found anybody who can tell me what this is yet. I wish auburn had put a part # on the dang thing somewhere.
