Could I leave the accumulator spring out

On my th350 i'm just wondering what would happen if i took the accumulator cover off..and just took the spring out..and put the lid back on.... B&M says to do this ...when setting up for heavy duty....

Whats the difference in feel and performance between..

Heavy duty

and

Street Strip

I just set mine up for Street Strip...

but i'm still wondering about that accumulator

Leave the spring in, it will give smoother part throttle shifts.

i have a 700r4 and i put the stage 2 b&m shift kit in. i removed both springs and spacers. the kit came with 2 new spacers, and i had to make a couple wholes bigger on the pressure plate.

That was part of what everybody used to do to the 350. As long as the wavy plate is still in the intermedaite clutch pack, it's OK; if it's not, it will be like speed-shifting a stick car every single time it shifts, and you'll get tired of it real quick.

So take it out, just don't throw it away yet, you may want it back.

There is nothing to be gained by "eliminating" the accumulator, in almost all cases. Use a stiffer spring in the 1-2 accumulator, if you want a firmer part throttle shift. Always use the waved steel in the 2nd gear pack. Anybody can drill larger holes in the seperator plate, and block the accumulators, that's easy, but it seems that nobody except the factory & Trans-Go will work with the accumulators. Listen, if the accumulator is setup correctly, you can have nice part throttle shifts along with gradually firmer shifts with more throttle, it takes some work though. You should be trying to "improve" on the factory engineering, not defeating it! All the factory hi-performance automatics use accumulation. Don't you think that if they could eliminate them they would? Look at the money they would save. Remember cost is everything to them. Understanding accumulation is not easy though, but remember Trans-Go has done most of the work for you when you buy their Shift kits.
