383 swap? WILL THE 700R4 HOLD UP?? HELP!!!!
I am going to be installing a 383 stroker motor this summer with centerbolt 64 cc dart heads and probably around 400-420 horsepower. MY QUESTION IS WILL THER TRANNY (700R4) HOLD UP? iT HAS BASICALLY BEEN REBUILT AND ALL REAR AND MAIN SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED OR REPAIRED. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD REPLACE AND OR IF THE TRANNY WILL EVEN WORK? PLEASE HELP!!!!! THANKS

It will work... for awhile... I'd stay out of the throttle until you either
1) Have it built for performance
2) Buy a built 700R4 (raptor, pro-built, etc...)
3) Invest in a T56 (6-speed)
4) Pick up a TH350/TH400 3 speed auto
It'll work for awhile and there is alot of ppl here with built cars and 700R4's so you may have good luck you may not. If its tired (high miles) then just be careful on her until you can upgrade... Its the torque output you're gonna have that'll hurt the 700R4.
