t-5 convert crisis, HELP!!

Hey, I'm converting my 88 GTA to a 5-speed. I have 2 questions. One, I've got my trans and when I went to put the manual flywheel on, its a bigger bolt pattern then my crank pattern. I mean, its the same put wider. I dont know what to do. The other is that my car has an electric speedometer and my trans is a manual. I've heard to change out the rear housings but it doesnt seem possible. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

ok, things regarding your swap, since i did this in my 86 lg4 car...

your motor should be a one piece rare main seal. the end of the crank will be round, and there will be what looks like a removable block where the crank exits the block.

the flywheels are different from the two piece rear mains to the 1 piece rear mains.

as for the speedometer, be prepared to spend 70 bucks on the t-5 version. the automatic speed sensor is much much larger than the one used on t-5s

Hope this helps!

well a couple of things:

1: it sounds like you got the set-up from a 85 or later car, if so then the flywheel is made for a two piece rear main seal and your motor will have the one piece seal, there is a difference between the two. you need to find a flywheel for the T-5 from a 86 or 87 (not sure when they switched) and newer one piece seal motor.

2: the speed-o is not that hard you need the sender from a later model 5 -speed car that has the elect. speedo. it should bolt right up to the older tranny.

the flywheel will be much easier to find than the sender, you could always go to the parts store and get a reman'd flywheel for a 88 or 89 V-8 car with a 5 speed, not a must but a possibility.
