T-5 Shifter in an 82?
T-5 Shifter in an 82?
Ive been thinking about installing a T5 in my 82 camaro (now a 700-r4) with thirdgenresource's kit. However, It doesnt come with a shifter, and every T-5 shifter for a third gen is listed for 83+. Whats the difference, or is that only because 82s came with 4-speeds? Could I use a hurst T-5 shifter in my car?

Right, that's it, there's no such thing as a 82 5-speed car. But there's nothing about the car that would keep a 83-up shifter from working, assuming that you use a Camaro/Firebird V8 bell housing and all that. You could use a Hurst or any other one you want.

The 1982 was mechanical linkage and had a straight-up oriented bellhousing.
The 1983 was mechanical linkage and had the 4-bolt trans. pattern tilted 18 degree to the driver side.
To do a T5 in an 82, you can run the Hurst shifter w/ an 83 bellhousing.
