tranny won't shift
I just recently got my car back on the road after doing some mods, I put a new cam in and some other things. It has been a couple months since the car was driven because I only had 1 day a week to work on it, and I pretty much took my time. I also put a corvette servo in the trans while it was down. Now the car will not shift out of first, I figured the TV cable needed to be adjusted since it was disconected. I drove the car up to get some gas in it and it did go through the gears then but it seemed to stay in each gear longer than it should have, so I tried to adjust it again and now it won't shift out of first at all. It has plenty of fluid in it (maybe even a little too much) and I have adjusted it about ten times now using the methods described here on the boards. I thought maybe since the car had not been driven in so long as I drove it it would get better, but I drove it all over the neighborhood today and it never shifted out of first. I don't think it is a problem with the new servo like dave89gta posted about recently because it goes into reverse with no problem, there are no leaks, and it has shifted since putting this in. BTW the tranny shifted fine before I did anything to the car. Any suggestions as to what may be wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow I am going to check the governor and the valve, I am hoping the valve is just stuck from the car sitting. Does anyone have any pictures of the governor removed so I know what to look for when I get in there? If I do need one, I want to get one for a Corvette tranny since I have the Vette servo in there, anyone know the part # ? I messed with the TV cable some more today and it still won't shift, when the RPM's get to about 2500 or so it acts like it goes into neutral. Then when I stop and take off again it is back in first, also reverse works fine. Does this still sound like the governor or possibly the valve stuck?

I pulled the governor and the gear on the end is like new, also the valve moves freely. What else could be the problem?, the tranny worked fine before I parked the car to work on it. From the posts I read about removing the cover, no one mentioned the fact that tranny fluid would come out. I figured some would, but about a quart came out of mine, is this normal? Could too much fluid cause too much pressure in the tranny and not let it shift?

Having a quart come out in normal for that spot if you don't have the drivers side jacked up or the rear jacked up. After you get it back on make shure you have it warmed up and then check your tranny fluid when it is running in park. ....Good Luck!

Yeah, the front of the car was jacked up. I have heard it could be the TV valve sticking in the tranny, has anyone ever had this happen or know how to get to it to check it?

That is why you had so much tranny fluid come out...I'v never had that happen to me but I have hurd of it....What you could do is get a transgo shift kit from Pro built it comes with a new TV valve if that was it it would fix it and also the transgo shift kit would help the tranny out alot to...Just something you might want to try!....Hope that helps YA!
