TBI to carb, will the ECM still control the tranny?

TBI to carb, will the ECM still control the tranny?
I have a 91 RS with a 305 TBI, and a 700R4. My question is, if I leave the ecm in and connected to the VSS will it still be able to lock up the tranny?
