End Caps on Driveshaft fell off...

Recently bought an aluminum shaft off someone on this board. When it was removed from the doner car, it appears that the caps(with needle bearings in them) aren't secued on at all. Isn't there supposed to be a set of c clips to hold them on?
Right now, the caps come off VERY easily. I have a feeling that they were secured on the previous car by the straps only.

I was surprised that they just came off so easily.
The needle bearings are very smooth though and are lubricated well. I'm wondering if the c clips from my steel shaft will work on this aluminum shaft since the joints look to be the same....or should I just get a new u=joint pressed in?
Thoughts?

I would replace the u-joints.
