350 not fitting to drivetran

I'm doing an engine/tranny swap in my 86 z28 and I measured the 350tranny comepared to my 700r4, I noticed that it falls a little short and wont reach the drivetran right,

I know people have done this swap, how do you make hook up right?

Measure how short it is, take it to a drive shaft shop, and say "Make this x inches longer". Have them put new U-joints in it while it's there.

short tail th350 are about 28 5/8" long overall and longtail th350 and 700r4's are exactly 3" longer, you shoulda got a truck th350, they are the length of the 700r4's

it will probably be harder to find a thm200c driveshaft than it would be to find or trade for longer th350

there is a 700r4 that is shorter than all other 700r4's- thats the corvette one

You need a longer driveshaft. You cannot lengthen a driveshaft. The vette 700 & 4L60 do not help in this situation.

Wrong.

It is extremely easy to lengthen a drive shaft. I've had numerous ones done over the years.

THey chuck it up in a vise, turn the tube off of the yokes, and weld in a new piece of tube of the desired length. It's so easy for somebody with the right lathe, it's just about a license to print money.

Check with any place around your area that services big trucks (18-wheelers and bigger). It's needed for them all the time.

Go to the bone yard and get a drive shaft out of a monza. That is what I ran in my 84 Z28 when I took out the 700R4 and replaced it with a TH350 ( Short Tail ).

Yah. But that's not lenghthening anything. That's just re-using yokes. Speaking of driveline shoppes, I gotta take a `bird shaft in to be balanced next week. Thanks for reminding.
