Flexplate question

My 305 TBI starting taking a crap back in January..long story but now it's falling off a cliff. Anyway, its been sitting in the garage for the past two months (hence the purchase of the 3.4 V6) and i've saved enough money to buy a GMPP 350 H.O. motor, vortec TBI manifold, headers, complete MSD yah yah...

Anyway, the guy thats coming to my house to help me with the swap (he ditched the 305 and bought a ZZ4) said getting the flexplate/flywheel off the original 305 was a BITCH. Plus, my 305 has 151k on it and I'm sure its going south anyway. So I want to make it as easy as possible and get everything I can on the new motor before I pull the old 305.

Jegs has flexplates/flywheels (I think I don't have a flywheel because I have the 700-R4??) which one should I buy? I'm going to use this as car as a daily driver in August when the fall term starts and I plan on getting 3.42 gears/posi later on to compliment the 350 H.O.

Secondly, should I get a shift kit for the 700-R4 or just leave well enough alone? I've heard B&M kits are not good for the 700-R4 though..

Thanks for any help!

Do they wear out? If so and if mines worn pretty badly, can I drive down to Discount auto and just get one there if I need it or is this a GM/magazine only item?

you should be able to get a stock flex plate at an auto parts store for around $30, I just got one for my 89 chevy truck at autozone, it was $31 and change

Well - the 700r4 you have in the car now is about as old as the engine correct? If so, I would restore it a bit to make sure it makes happy with the fresh 350 H.O.

Replace the clutch packs & bands, upgrade the vane pump assembly, & throw in a corvette servo for firmer shifts. Thats all I would do - and boy will it make a noticeable difference.
