world class or not
world class or not
i have searched for days on this board and other places...... i got a t-5 for free. well i want to say that it is a world class because i need one. from what i read on here, if it has a t-50 torx bolt on the drivers side of the case its a wc t-5. and it has a t-50 torx bolt. bbbuuuuttttt...the bearing cover looks like a nwc t-5 and so does the syncros. someone has gone through the transmission before, and probably did not last very long. the heart of the question is....is it possible to put nwc guts in a wc? and any case markings other than the bearing cover beside the input shaft. and if any one has a wc t-5 case or non working wc t-5 they would like to sell or trade(all i need its the case) feel free to write. thanks

The front countergear bearing (the thing about 2" in diameter in the front of the case, down low, partially covered by the clutch gear bearing retainer) tells all. If it looks like an upside-down freeze plug, entirely flat except for having sort of rolled-over looking edges and very shiny, it's the 1st design. If that thing looks like it has its center depressed, or like it has a ridge about 3/16" wide all the way around it and with a dull dark grey finish, it's the 2nd design.
There's no way to exchange 2nd design parts into a 1st design case, or vice-versa. Like I said, the front countergear bearing is an absolute, unambiguous indicator.
