Is the spline number the same, I thought it was more of a distance issue than the actual input shaft?

In most cases, people end up w/ an LS1 trans because they got a good deal on it. By the time you get done buying all the stuff you need to make it work w/ a regular SBC, you probably spent more than you saved.

ls1 hydrolic clutch with lt1 flywheel
hey first of all i was tired when i posted this article so my speeling can be off. second i need to get a whole new bellhousing with the clutch fork too??? which would mean i cant use my hydrolic throwout bearing either right?? still why can't i just use the ls1 flywheel with new bolts holes drilled in it or have one made with the correct bolt holes. and keep all my ls1 stuff. that way it should be the same length..correct or no?

Save yourself some time and headaches, sell the LS1 stuff and get the LT1 setup, it bolts in without all the extra cost.

You'll need to swap the input shaft, swap the bellhousing, use an LT1 flywheel, not sure about the clutch and pressure plate, and learn how to spell hydraulic.
