TQ Lock-up using ALDL
I read in one of the tech articles that, although not recommended,
you can connect the *Top_Right* connector to the *Top_Left* connector and make your 700r4 convertor stay "locked" 2nd-3rd-and 4th gear. I know it also say not to do it frequently. But is that true? Will it work? Has anyone ever done it before? I heard that if you turn your car on with any of the prongs connected that it will fry your ECM. If i do use it, its only going to be on Do-or-Die situations where everything counts. Please dont respond if you dont know 100% for sure or if you have never done it. I really cant afford a new ecm. My car is a STOCK 91" T/A GTA WS6 LB9 700r4 with a JG1 Driveshaft and a 2.73 rear end. Thanks

T-Q lock up
Hey, I did it but ended up disconnecting it because I was too tempted to use it all the time. Yes I could lock it up in second gear but first it shifted into second and then locked up. Not a solid shift into second. Grant it, you could feel increased tq. to the ground, but I wouldn't use it for racing! You would be sacrificing the longivity of your tranny for a couple of tenths off your ET a few times. One good thing though, I found that when crusing around in 4th gear (like 40 to 55 mph) It didn't keep down-shifting to non lock-up to lock-up. Hope this answers your question.
