The previous owner drove it hard, as did I. I hated the 2.73 rear unless I was on highway.
Old age+hard driving I suppose. It showed no signs, just started clanking one day.

The next rear is going to be built by a friend of ours and we'll be using a solid pinion spacer instead of a crush collar.
