car felt like it had no power... clicking noise from underneath?

Okay, my car has been running fine. Today, I get in to go for a drive. Whenever I give it more than half throttle, I hear a 'clicking' noise coming from underneath the car. The car feels like it has lost a BUNCH of power. It doesn't shift through the gears as fast. While watching the tachometer needle, I noticed that it doesn't move as 'smoothly' as it should. I parked it and raised the hood. I heard some 'pressure' noises coming from the charcoal canister (I have NEVER heard that before). So, I removed my gas cap to let pressure out. Then the noises stopped. That probably has nothing to do with my problem though. Anyways, back to the issue at hand. So, I decided to check my Tranny Fluid. The dipstick was VERY hot... burning me in fact?! Is that normal? Here's the kicker, it was WAY OVER FULL. Like 1 quart. I have checked it 3 times recently, and it was ALWAYS PERFECT. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

P.S. - Tranny fluid, filter, and gasket are new (1 month old). Fluid was red. Could the cause be a bad or 'slipping' TV Cable? How about a stuck thermostat, restricting fluid flow?

-Thanks

BTW, it makes the 'clicking' noise and has power loss in all the gears. 1, 2, D, and OD. Just in case that makes a difference...

Could possibly be a bad torque converter? Its really hard to say. I would get it up to highway speed so the converter locks up and try and accelerate. If it accelerates and no longer clicks (don't punch it and make it unlock), then I would say the converter is bad.

It doesn't make the noise at minimal throttle at ANY speed. If I get upto highway speeds (to make it lock) and give it slight throttle (but not enough to make it unlock), it doesn't make the noise. If I punch it, then the noise returns. It seems like it doesn't matter if it is locked/unlocked or the speed... just with a decent amount of throttle?!

probaly not the same noise, but my Z make this groining noise every ounce in a while. Sounds like pressure being released. Either that or my car is calling the dead.

Okay, this is very weird. Today, when I got it the car... it was fine. Car had ALL of it's power back, NO noises, and it shifted well?!?! What in the world happened?!?!?!?!!??!

Note - I forogt to mention, yesterday, when it had the problem... I had to stop because some crazy dog ran out it front of me (came to a complete stop) when I got back on the throttle, I heard some HORRIBLE grinding noise coming from undeath. I immediately let off the throttle, the noise stopped. The noise hasn't returned after that. (That was the 3rd time it made the grinding noise... all within the last 5 days, too)

Is something majorly bad getting ready to happen
