lock-up or non lock-up...

i know this has been talked to death but i am confussed about which one is better. as far as performance i've heard lock up is better and i've heard non lock up is better. i already have a TCI non-lock up, sat. night special, and i haven't had any problems with it but i was wondering if i went with the wrong one. i also have 3.42 in the rear. could this combo be why my L03 drinks gas? does anyone have an idea what my stall speed is? whats recommended as far as tranny fluid? im using B&M trick shift right now

Lock-up will help mileage by not allowing the torque converter to slip driving down the highway. Probably worth a couple mpg, depending on how much it's slipping. That TC is probably less than 2000rpm. Trick shift is just type F that is colored. Good old dexron III is what you need.

One thing I like about the lock up is that I can lock it in third gear and it feels just like a manual trans, great for back country roads where you speed up and slow down and o/d is just to low. Hit is hard at 3000 rpm's and it jumps just like a manual trans, feels great!
