Tranny mount
Tranny mount
I replaced my trans mount less than a year ago and now the damn thing has already broke again. What would cause this and what could I do to fix it? Thanks alot for help and advise! My car is all stock no mods.

It's a design flaw. Having the torque arm mounted to the tranny tailhousing puts a lot of undue stress on the tranny mount.
A lot of guys use polyurethane tranny mounts. They're firmer and won't tear as easily, but they also conduct more vibration into the passenger compartment. The truely correct way to fix the problem is to take the torque arm off the tranny...which means buying an aftermarket torque arm which mounts to either the crossmember or a bracket welded to the body. The polyurethane mount is significantly cheaper.

I could put a new trans mount in my car when I was using stock ones, back down the driveway, and rip it in half right then and there the first time I let the clutch out. I'd say you did pretty good getting a year out of it actually.
Get a poly one such as Energy Suspension or Prothane. They will last plenty long, even if you beat on them.

wow a year really is good! I had a bone stock 88 305tpi auto and nailing it a few times from a dead stop and through second would break the stock mounts. I use the poly mount and well I have had it for years and still no problem and looks like it did the day I bought it (+ some dirt
) payed for itself again and again
